Destination Fiordland has a range of imagery from the Fiordland region. Many of the images dipicted on this site are the result of our annual photographic competition which encourages local Fiordlanders to get out with the camera and celebrate the region. Other photographs within this site have been generously supplied by local photographers.

If you wish to use any of the photographs or imagery within this site, please contact the Destination Fiordland office via email info@fiordland.org.nz to request permission, clearly stating the Ref No. of the image you are wishing to use and we will be able to advise if there are any copyright issues involved with the images you stipulated.

Doubtful Sound
Despite stunning imagery of Doubtful Sound the true grandeaur of the place can be hard to appreciate without being there. It is simply and unquestionably breathtaking.

Lake Te Anau
Lake Te Anau often gets overlooked as a destination as visitors rush to view the more famous scenic icons of the region, but those who make time to explore, will discover a very picturesque lakeside town as images in this category depict.

Lake Manapouri
Brooding, tranquil, tempestuous, serene, glowering, amazing-are all words used to describe Lake Manpouri in one of its compelling moods.

Landscapes
Fiordland has some of the world's most spectacular scenery, from stunning fiords, magnificent mountain and lake vistas. This section contains a sample.

Milford Sound
It's no wonder Rudyard Kipling described Milford Sound as the eigth wonder of the world. Like Doubtful Sound however it is difficult to appreciate the magnificence of Milford Sound until you visit and see the scale of this gigantein landscape.

People & Places
A category in Destination Fiordland's annual photographic competition, this section depicts Fiordland locals enjoying their local surrounds.

Rural
The townships of Te Anau and Manapouri have been largely founded and sustained on the surrounding rural hinterland. A vital part of the local community this section depicts rural scenes.

Wildlife & Nature
Fiordland's geological background has not only lead to spectacular landscapes, but also to some unique flora and fauna, many species of which are entirely unique to the Fiordland region.

Underwater World
While this category strictly speaking comes under Wildlife & Nature, we have seperated this out to highlight a unique and often overlooked aspect of the Fiordland environment.
