Family Fun

Fiordland hosts a range of activities for the family, including many school holiday specials and activity programmes including the Department of Conservation special program over the summer months.

Some other activities that we recommend as appropriate for families include: • mini golf or quadricycles • the Fiordland Cinema has movie screenings to suit young and old • stock up from the supermarkets or dairy and pack a picnic lunch for Milford Road or at Ivon Wilson Park • take the kids fishing at Lake Henry. You need to apply for a permit from the Department of Conservation, but this is free and the lake is specially stocked and reserved for the young angler. • enjoy a farm visit to Annie’s Farm Yard or Glen Monarch Farm • the Te Anau Wildlife Park allows children and adults to get very close to many rare native bird species • Ivon Wilson Park offers other opportunities to stroll and picnic amongst the extensive plantings • enjoy many of the short walking opportunities and nature trails (such as the one at Lake Gunn on the Milford Road) • visit the playground at Lions Park • look out for school holiday specials
