• Entering the National Park is entirely FREE so whether you choose to drive the spectacular Milford Road or just visit a few of the scenic stopping points within the park thre is no need to pay. • a huge variety of long or short walks can be undertaken at no cost (unless you choose to stay in one of the many overnight huts which do require a minimal overnight tariff) • Department of Conservation have great displays at the Visitor Centre • view the Takahe and other birds at the Wildlife Centre • visit Ivon Wilson Park • go to the viewing point at Ramparts Road to get a great overview of Te Anau township and lake • an evening lakeside stroll is magical in the long summer evenings • the water of Lakes Te Anau and Manapouri are often described as refreshing even in summer months but can provide a great deal of splashing fun in summer when it gets a little warmer |
