There is a range of Milford Track transport options available to get you to the track and back again.

The first boat - The access to the start of the Milford Track is via water taxi, departing Te Anau Downs over to Glade Wharf. Fiordland Outdoors offers the first and fastest boat to start the Milford hiking Track. Taking only 50 minutes across Lake Te Anau, you will arrive before the big boatload of hikers reaches the track. Enjoy a quiet 1.5 hour walk to Clinton Hut, arriving early means your securing a bunk of your choice. 

Water Taxi transport - Fiordland Outdoors will transport you to the start of the track and be there to pick you up in Milford Sound. With a brand new boat, brought into the sound in 2021, we now complete your whole journey. 

Bus Transport - Our chosen bus service provider connects with our boat transfers at the start and end of Milford Track. Regular daily buses depart from Te Anau or Queenstown for Milford Sound during the summer season.

Car relocation - Imagine the welcoming sight of your vehicle waiting for you when you finish your Great Walk! Transport packages include car relocation from Te Anau Downs to Milford Sound and a water taxi to the start of the track.
