The first day on the Kepler Track is a beautiful yet challenging climb up to Luxmore Hut. You wind your way through gorgeous beech forest, past enormous rock formations and up into the alpine meadows, with wide-open views out over the mountains and Lake Te Anau. By helicoptering your packs you’ll enjoy the climb more, and have loads of energy to take the side-walk from the hut to the cave system that afternoon. Best of all, you’ll be thanking us for having fresh shoulders for the second day of the walk: the most challenging day.
